Walking, traveling, and even cleaning can help spark your creativity

Creativity is an important element in pretty much everything. Think about how boring life would be if things were made without any originality or imagination. If you run a business, surely you know how important it is to be creative with your ads, promotions, blog posts, and all other marketing initiatives.

The trouble with creativity, however, is that it can be fleeting, and you never know when it’s going to slip away. If you’ve reached the point where fresh ideas just aren’t coming, try these six tips:

Take a walk

Oftentimes, the best way to recharge your creative battery is to get up from what you’re doing and take a stroll—and a trip to the coffeemaker or bathroom doesn’t count. If you can, get outside. Even a short walk in the fresh air can help you refocus, and a little exercise is a great way to boost oxygen to your brain.

Shut things down

One of the biggest detriments to creativity is distractions, and more than likely, they come in the form of your computer, smartphone, or some other device. Taking a break from all of the tech in your life even for just a few moments will allow your mind to work a little better, and you’ll probably be surprised with what you come up with.

Change up your habits

If you do the same things in the same manner everyday, chances are your creativity is being stifled. Think about ways to alter your routine. This could involve eating something different for breakfast, varying your route to work, or perhaps even taking a day off from everything.

Clean up

If your desk or overall workstation is covered in clutter, you may want to consider cleaning up. And while everything you’ve accumulated might have some importance (or it did at one point), surely not all of it has to be front and center. Starting over with a blank slate could be just the spark you need.

Be prepared

You just never know when inspiration will strike, so you have to be ready for it. It always pays to carry a pen and pad with you (or perhaps a voice memo tool) to capture any brilliant ideas you have throughout the day when doing mundane activities. They’re not all going to be winners, but there’s sure to be a gold nugget in there somewhere.

Get away

To really ignite your creativity, it may be time to think about getting away for a while. A week off at home may do you some good, but a trip to a new destination would probably be even better. Experiencing new cultures, people, and even food can really do wonders for your thinking.

In order for your business to stand out, creativity has to play a big role. Hopefully the tips above will be able to help, but if you’re still having trouble, get in touch with ContentBacon. We’ll gladly fill in while you work on getting your creative groove back. Contact us today!
